I don't care if people like my hair. I color it for me. I like to change it and make it different. I'm not trying to impress anyone or fit in. I enjoy being different! But it bothers me when people think they need to say something about it just because I changed it. If you don't like it, fine, that's your prerogative. But how about not saying anything at all.
This is like a new world record for me. It's been almost three weeks since I colored my hair!
When it was longer I had the front part a different color and I was going to do that again once it grew out but then I decided that I would just do it anyway. So here's the results......
I have no patience! As anybody who knows me can tell you. I was going to wait a few days until the color faded a bit but I hate waiting. So I colored red over it to see how it would turn out. This picture doesn't do it justice (as usual) it's like this velvety red and it's very pretty. It's still darker than I want but hopefully within a few days it won't be so dark.
Please vote so I can get your opinion. Even if you don't know me and read my blog please vote!
I still wanted my hair red but I wanted it darker. It faded a lot since the last time I colored it a few days ago. I didn't have a dark red so I decided to mix three colors together and see what I got. It turned out a really pretty color but it was darker than I wanted.
I know it's hard to tell by the picture that this is different from the other red. The other one had a pink tint to it and I didn't like it. I really am surprised by the brightness of these red's. The color swatch didn't look like this at all. I was expecting something normal and ended up with something not so normal. But then again, let's face it, I'm not very normal so I guess it fits!
I am really surprised by how bright this turned out. The girl at Sally Beauty told me it was there brightest red but I wasn't expecting this at all. It's not one of the funky dye's I buy, it's just regular hair dye. Shocking!
I colored blonde over the bleach to even up the color. I usually don't like it when it's blonde and I think I've finally discovered why. When I've had it blonde in the past I steer away from the shades with gold in them and it turns out that's what looks best with my skin tone. So I'm going to keep the blonde for a little bit.
I was actually in the process of coloring my hair red. I had bleached it to get out the purple that was still remaining and decided that I would leave it blonde for a few days.
This was a hard color to capture accurately. We tried several times to get a good picture of it and this was the best we could get. Usually the pictures don't quite capture the color as it is, but this one was really hard because it just looks black if you're not in the right light. I decided to try mixing three different colors to get the shade of purple that I wanted. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Thanks again to Justin who helped me color it since I can't do it myself yet!
We have a new Relief Society presidency, so in church today they had us stand up and say our name and something unique about us. I stood up and said my name and said "as most of you probably know I change my hair a lot. I make it all these crazy colors" and waved at my head. Everybody lauged. I'm glad I can amuse people with my hair.
I hate the fact that some colors fade so fast. I have only washed my hair once since I colored it and it already looks like it needs to be colored again. I had been using special effects hair dye (plus I had a few bottles of color fiend) for the funky colors, but I decided that I'm going to try manic panic and see how it holds up. They have more colors and I've read good things about them. So after I receive the colors I just ordered, I'll be changing my hair.
I decided I didn't like the blonde. Since I had colored my bangs different colors than the rest of my hair for several weeks my bangs were a kind of gray color and didn't match the rest of the blonde. It wasn't horrible or terribly noticeable but I wasn't happy with it. I asked my whole family to vote on the color they wanted out of about six colors (I have a large collection of dye). Teya really wanted me to keep it blonde but voted anyway. This was the color she voted for. I'm happy with the results.
You can see my new cut a little better in this picture.
I decided that since I won't be able to do my hair once I have my shoulder surgery I would get it cut REALLY short so I didn't have to worry about it. It is super easy to style, I basically don't have to do anything. I've had lots of compliments on it so far. I feel a little naked but I know I'll be used to it within a few days. I got up in the middle of the night last night and looked in the mirror and was surprised by the person that stared back at me. It's a big change, but I like it!
I don't think anyone except the people who live with me actually know how often I change my hair. In the last month and a half I have had it blonde with turquoise streaks, bright red, black with red streaks and bangs, black with red bangs, black with green bangs, black with purple bangs, burgundy with purple bangs and now burgundy all over. I don't really like to post pictures of myself on my blog but I'm going to try to be better about it so that you can see all the different colors and such. I'm going to post a picture on here to start that is hideous but that's how much I love you all. This was in between the black and burgundy. Justin insisted on taking pictures since it looked so great.
I love hair! That's all there is to it. I love to look at pictures of hair, study hair, and change my own hair. I've been coloring my hair since I was 15, and I've only gotten more daring and less worried as time has gone on. Justin has only seen my natural hair color once.
I have thought for several months that every time I make a post on my "bowl of oranges" blog I should write what color my hair is. Justin suggested that I start a new blog that is all about my hair. I thought that was a great idea.
